Frisée, Tangerine, and Sesame Salad

January 13, 2012

It can be fun and challenging to come up with dishes to serve at your event, be it big or small.  Food has just as much design, at times, as the decor and you can put as much care here as the environment.  It can be fun to take a que from your decor and incorporate some of the same colors or themes. For example, this year’s color is tangerine so why not try a dish with the color orange in it? Here’s a great light spring or summer salad recipe that looks beautiful as well as sounds delicious! It even has tangerine’s in it, so you get both the color and the theme if your event is based around this year’s color 🙂

  • All you will need is:

  • Zest from 1 tangerine
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 3 tablespoons fresh tangerine juice
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
  • tangerines, segmented
  • 1/3 cup thinly sliced red onion
  • small heads frisée, torn into bite-size pieces
  • Salt
  • Toasted sesame seeds and pomegranate seeds (optional)
  1. In a medium bowl, combine zest, ginger, tangerine juice, and oils. Add tangerines, onion, and frisée, then stir to combine. Season to taste with salt and sprinkle with sesame seeds and pomegranate seeds if you like.
